Working mama here...40-60 hours a week depending on my on-call schedule. Are you a single parent? Why are you the one doing all the house work and meal planning??? My husband and I split that stuff so that we both have time to get to the gym and have time together as a family. Sharing the load, if you have a partner, makes things much easier! If not, is it possible to use an extra hour or so of daycare to have some "you" time?? My husband does have very odd hours with work and doesn't work the standard 9-5, so there's times where I ask our daycare provider if I can come an hour later than normal...then I do what I need to do, whether it's cleaning, cooking or working out so I can spend more time with the kiddo that evening. Good luck!0 -
I got to my goal weight about 10 years ago using Weight Watchers and kept it off without exercising and only watching what I ate and leading a healthier lifestyle. I got pregnant and of course gained it all back and then some. I work from home during the week (sedentary mostly) and home school one of my kids and I just started a job where I will be working on weekends. I try to squeeze in a walk/jog on my treadmill every other day but here lately I've been slacking on that. My husband also works an odd schedule but so far it's all working out.0

^^This.
My husband and I are a team! He gets the kids up and takes them to school/daycare in the morning so I can get up at 4:30, hit the gym, be to work by 7 and leave at 4 to pick up the kids. I then help with homework and start dinner until he gets home, and then it's family time for the rest of the evening.
I do all my meal planning/prep on Sunday (older kid helps, younger one naps).
And we have a weekly housekeeper so we can maximize our family time on the weekends without having to scrub floors, toilets, etc I know this is a "luxury", but it's one of the last things I would give up because of how much it helps our quality of life.0 -
Working mom of 3. My kids are older however (youngest in middle school), so it's easier for me to get things done. We farm out most of the housework to our oldest. I do meal prepping on Sunday. I go to the gym before work on M,W,F after I drop the kids off at school. It makes me a little late, so I work through lunch and stay a little later on those days. T, Th, my husband and I run while the kids get ready for school. If it's nice out, I will ride my bike to work (8 miles). Saturday, my husband and I get up and run before I take my middle son to volunteer and sports activities.
Once the kids get past 7, it gets much easier IMO. Just hold on!0 -
My husband and I are a great team... He actually does do a lot of cleaning because he's a dare I say it? A stay at home dad! But when I get home around 530 every night I almost feel like I'm cheating myself out of family time if I go work out... Every so often we all go to the beach and walk or take the stroller down main street or to the park etc but that's only when it's nice. I don't have a treadmill or anything because honestly I live on a second floor and I don't want to huff it up there although that would be a workout huh? Lol I do do 99% of the cooking and he has no idea when it comes to meal planning so I do that lol we share the rest of the housework but it's still there regardless of help. Working out in the morning is just not an option. I get up at 430 as is to make it to work for 6 so I can leave by 430. I suppose I'm just complaining lol I just don't think we get enough credit for all the things we do in such a small amount of time! Go us!
My goal is to get out and walk with my family every nice day there is from here on out.....no excuses! Any goals yall have besides goal weight?0 -
I walk on my lunch breaks and any free time I have during the work day. I don't have the type of job where I have to stay glued to my desk. Like most mom's I don't have time after work or in the morning.0

I was a single mom for years, and know how hard it is to work, take care of the household, yardwork, clean, errands, homework, taxi drive to all the activities. I've been batch cooking/freezing for 8 years now and I'll NEVER go back because it saves me so much time and energy.
I never spent more than 15 minutes getting dinner on the table during the week. That means there is no cooking cleanup either. Total time saver.
Now that I'm re-married, I'm able to workout outside of my house (yay!) while everyone is asleep in the morning and I don't have to worry about cleaning everything, doing all of the laundry, and doing all of the yard work. Total game changer!
We have a few days a week that are super busy so my husband takes up the cooking those days so that it's done by the time we get home. Basically my family discusses our dinner meal plans at the end of the week for the following week. I grocery shop over the weekend based on our ideas (and anything I plan to batch cook). I post the menu on the fridge. My husband doesn't batch cook, but he can read the meal plan and cook what's there!
