I just recently got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, I'm taking medication, doctors stated that in 3-4 months my levels should be leveled and that should help me with weight loss.... I sure do hope its true because I've seen people say its not

I was able to start losing after being on medication for about six weeks. But it does take longer for some people to get regulated. Good luck!1

Keep moving! I didn't and now have 100lbs to lose! Not typical, I had a lot of crazy stuff happen the last 6 yrs. Food was a stress manager! :-( Moving helps though...0

People say all kinds of things. Sometimes, they're right. Sometimes they're unusual. Sometimes they're just making excuses. The best thing is to give it a serious, sustained try, and judge for yourself.
I'm hypothyroid, pretty severely so, but I've been so for some time and it's well controlled with medication. I take my medication consistently, and according to instructions.
I've lost over 60 pounds since this time last year, and now weigh about 119 pounds at 5'5". . . and I'm also 60 years old, another thing that I've seen people say makes it harder to lose weight.
You may find that, until you get your thyroid levels fully corrected, you might have to eat slightly fewer calories than MFP suggests, in order to lose at any given rate. But you might not find that. Only one way to find out - go for it!
I'm betting you can make this work, if you work at it.1 -
I have been hypo for 12 years now. Taking the right dose really does help. Make sure you don't eat anything for an hour after your pill. If you take any vitamins talk to your dr because you have to wait so many hours after you take your pill before you can take them. ( I'm not sure how long as I don't take vitamins). It is a one step at a time. I had put on a lot weight before I was diagnosed. Then I got to the point I really don't care. I decided to make this year about me and I have lost 35 lbs since the middle of December.
Everyone is different. My dr told me to watch refined carbs and no salt. I have bad water retention being hypo. So when in doubt talk to your dr or a nutritionist.
Hypo don't have to be an excuse to not get healthy. There will be bumps in the road, you just pick yourself up, dust off and try again the next day.1
