OP, what are your stats (height, weight)? What goal did you choose and how many calories did MFP give you?

I am 5'3" and currently 167 pounds. I have put in that I would like to lose 2 pounds a week and it won't let me. It always reverts back to 1200 calories at a loss of .9 lbs per week. My problem is that I eat the 1200 calories, I do not walk more than 5K steps a day and I am not losing weight. That is why I ask, why is 1200 the lowest MFP will go?

You should be losing some weight at 1200 calories.
Check your logging accuracy. Get a food scale and use it. Check that you are using the most accurate entries from the database.

    +1.

Also OP, I am 5'4" and got myself down to 130lbs, and now that the weather is warming up I want to try to lose another 5 lbs. I never ate less than 1400 cals. I did this by using a food scale, double checking every entry I used in the database, focused on getting enough protein while eating more veggies. And I got a Fitbit and started walking. 10 minute walk when I got up in the morning, 10-15 minute walk on my lunch break, 15 minute walk after dinner. I took an extra lap around the grocery store when i was shopping. I marched in place watching TV! When you're shorter, you don't have enough room for a big deficit, so I accepted that I would lose slower than I really wanted, but getting my daily steps up helped pad my little deficit.

Eating less than 1200 makes it really tough to eat a nutritious diet and really isn't necessary. Hang in there, be patient, and good luck!
