Ladies - TOM question and exercise

I went to a Kettlebell class on Tuesday and went for a short run after. It is now Friday and my muscles still feel sore and I feel exhausted. It was a new class for me but I am not new to lifting or body conditioning classes so don't imagine that i should feel so tired. I started my 'time of the month' yesterday. Does anybody else find that this hinders exercise recovery at all?

I have sacked off exercise until tomorrow now. Really disappointed and cant wait to feel motivated again. Any advice or similar stories?

Not for me personally, but it could well be the reason why you're feeling more fatigued.
1 day of rest will do you good and then you'll be ready to get moving again  Thankfully its only temporary.

The very first time I went to a kettlebell class I could barely move for at least 4 days! It's because it was new, now I'm used to them it doesn't hurt!

I agree with ^^^ Bluepegasus. TOM just affects my motivation to go training and how I want to eat carbs all day long. Other than that it's business as usual. I think once you get used to the different speed of the exercise than what you are used to, i think you'll be kicking it.....hard!! :)

May be a case of over training? (warning detail coming up) I have very heavy periods which may have an impact? Its not so much about motivation or food cravings. I just feel achy and exhausted :(.

Heavy periods would be draining, cut yourself some slack til you're over the worst. The main thing is that you are consistent most of the time, a few days out a month wont matter in the long run.
We all want to reach for the comfort food during that time, perfectly normal but I've found if you say no enough to the cravings they eventually go away.

Thanks for the feedback. Just been feeling so amazing this year to get kicked down again the last few days. I am on the pill which should stop my periods but I still get one every now and then. Never had problems with managing my food around this time though so guess I am just lucky lol. Literally just a bit bummed that I am skipping workouts.

it makes me want to miss a day sometimes as you just don't physically feel up to it but I did loads of exercise at the gym did my first kettle class and was an invalid for a week with DOMS haha

Hmmm starting to think the kettle class had a bigger impact than expected then. I believe at one point i was grunting to finish squats and other moves. It was quite brutal.

If you are heavy then that will definitely impact the workout. Perhaps, leave off until feeling less drained.
