Been there done that and back at it again. It has become obvious to me that I can't see this as a temporary fix so I can lose the weight and feel good again. It has to become a permanent change in me. Routine and repetition helps me to create a habit. I also struggle with staying focused and committed. There are always temptations and very convenient excuses. I have finally come to recognize them and even anticipate them. I literally have to coach myself through them in my head. This morning on my walk it occurred to me that I must take it one day at a time and say today I am going to remain faithful to this plan and avoid causing a set back. It is all anyone can do. Remember, you are worth the effort and the payoff is truly priceless. The MFP and this website has the plan, just track your food stay within your calories, watch your salt and sugar intake, and work on increasing your activity level. I use a Fitbit to help track activity, but there are a number of products out there UA came out with their own activity tracker recently. You can do this!2

I would forget about following a "diet" and use MFP to manage your calories. The more you log, the more you'll see ways to cut unnecessary calories. You'll also see the foods that satisfy you the most without going over your calorie goal.
In my opinion I think using counting calories as the diet makes it easier to slide into maintenance. The only thing different is you'll have a few more calories to eat.3 -

I think the key here is to forget about "dieting". It's all about the lifestyle change. Eating the healthy food and exercising. Don't forget that you can also indulge with those chocolate, fries, burgers but remember to keep in mind portion control and perhaps healthier alternatives (i.e sweet potatoes instead of potatoes). At the end the day it all comes down to healthy eating, portion control and exercise. And oh of course we all deserve some treats and indulgences in moderation for a great job keeping healthy.
Hope that helps, even a little bit1 -
I completely understand. I think I may have tried them all twice. Then... I went to a natural path. We discussed how my body was acting (tired, aches, headaches, depression, not loosing weight even when I eat like a rabbit. We talked for an hr and planned changes to my diet. Which worked a bit, but still a struggle. I was still exhausted everyday and not loosing.
So he suggested getting my blood tested. What I found out was the healthy foods I was eating were actually not right for me. By removing those dozen foods items that my body didn't process it made all the difference.
I've now lost 25 lbs in 7 weeks, I feel great, more energy less tired, and actually less anxious and no depression.
So my advice... stop looking to these one size fits all diets and start listening to your body. It took about a week to stop cravings, now those foods I couldn't resist aren't even on my radar. Mostly because I know how they make me feel, that was all the connection I needed. Weird but true.0
