Gain Fast or Slow?

I need to put on about 4lbs. Not much, but I'd like to do it quickly. I lost a little too much and when I switched to maintenance I kept losing fat, but building muscle (I lift heavy). If I weren't trying to get pregnant I'd be happy. I have a six pack great muscle definition and I'm just a little too vascular looking for my liking. I could get a spray tan and flex in a little bikini...but I have no desire to do that.
Its not about appearance. I lost weight to get healthy and get my PCOS under control Soni could have another kid.
I failed my last Clomid cycle. I failed to respond at all. Like didn't ovulate. I always ovulate. Late in my cycle and with crappie eggs...but I always ovulate.
Unless I'm to skinny. More specifically unless my body fat is too low. If I have a six pack there's an good chance my cycle will start going awol.
So I need to put on fat. Muscle is nice too and will be easier to build eating at a surplus. But I need the fat more than the muscle.
Is it better to gain quickly (500+ calorie surplus) or slowly (250).
I just went from 105.6 to 107.2 in 2 days...eating one day 250 surplus and yesterday 500. Assuming it's mostly water from extra glycogen storage.

Sounds like you won't have a hard time adding a little weight and since your only shooting for 4 pounds its really not going to matter what speed you do it. With your bf already as low as it is I'm inclined to believe you know what your doing and how to listen to your body. As long as you feel good in the process and don't add excessive weight (too much weight to quick is unhealthy and can be prone to injury) you should be fine. Just remember that as you gain some weight your maintenance calories will rise again. Good luck0

Thanks...so far I feel great. I have so much more energy than just a few days ago before I decided to put on a few pounds. I only want to go up to 18-20% body fat. That was me like 3 months ago around 109-110lbs. Nice flat stomach with some definition, no wonky forehead veins and I still filled out my bra. I don't know exactly where I'm at...but looking at my muscle definition and how vascular I look...I think I'm around 15-17%. Not great for trying to get pregnant. In addition to PCOS I can add hypothalamic amenorrhea to complicate things further, unless I gain a few pounds of fat...quick.
This will just be temporary...maybe 2 to 4 weeks. Then I'll go back to maintenance, but eat at a slight surplus (like 150 to 200 calories) on days I lift...to avoid the same thing happening all over again.0
