Could this be true? Calorie question...

Fitness Pal logs this salad as 400 calories :o

It's rocca leaves, sun dried tomatoes, vinaigrette dressing and a sprinkling of pine nuts....

I logged it, but does this sound accurate?? Recipe builder only puts it in as 140 calories....

Salad here for reference:

I would personally go by tge recipe builder if you entered all ingredients ccorrectly.
Seeing as that is a 'generic' entry you don't know what another mfp user put in it to make the calories higher.

I wouldn't use it. Other than calories, nothing else is filled in. Makes it a garbage entry in my books.

When logging something with more than one ingredient, it's always best to do it yourself either through the recipe builder or log ingredients separately. You have no idea what someone else put in their recipes. There's a checkbox to make them public or not and I wish people would use it.

Thank you all for the advice. I had no idea these calorie counts weren't gospel!

It's all about how you make it - for example, what is a "sprinkling" of pine nuts? 5 grams? 10 grams? 20 grams? 30 grams? Pine nuts, like many nuts, are very calorie dense, so variations in how a single recipe is made can dramatically change the calorie counts. Whomever made the entry may well be eating 400 calories per serving, and you might really be eating 140 based on how you prepare the recipe.

Also, the name of the recipe says it has chicken in it. Did you put chicken in your salad? The entry could be accurate for the salad that the person who created the entry made, but your salad is probably very different. It's best just to log the ingredients, or use the recipe builder if this is a recipe you plan to make again.
