How to make running less boring?
Replies

I try to enrich my runs by 1. running outside in all seasons 2. running with friends who are just as crazy as I am running thru the rain or a blizzard 3. in the absence of friends I run with music/audiobooks.
Stimulate the senses and the run becomes so much more than just a run. It becomes an adventure!1 -
Hi
Running can be less boring if u do following things. It works for me. I hope it will work for u.
1. Ask question yourself, why i want to run?. If you have a valid reason. It will prepare your positive mind set. Once u mentally prepared, u will enjoyed it.
2. Make your different plan for every day running with different route.
3. Download some good music. Some special music is available for running.
4. Sometimes find friends who have same interest. Go with them.
5. After 10 minutes jogging walk 2 min again start jogging.
6. Read health and fitness magazines, it will keep u motivated.
I hope it is enough for healthy running
quote="JoseLoCR;10374478"]Hello,
I am new to exercise so started off with 'couch to 5k' that builds up to 30 mins running, as I heard it was good way to do it (it is!). the earlier part of the program is short bursts of running with also walking. But as it progresses it is only running. Of course this is a good challenge, but I find one more problem: I get bored running 25-30 mins no stop. At least the change of pace kept it interesting in the early days. I tried running outside instead of treadmill to make more interest and it helps a bit but still no so much. I try music, sometimes this helps a bit. Sorry if this is a very stupid question, just wondering how people keep their mind busy to not get too bored in the run! Or is it just something we must put up with?
Thank you, Joselito[/quote0 -
I have to wonder if you are really bored? Or if it is challenging and you are pushing the pace too much/too often and just wanting to stop and walk? Most of your runs should be at an easy pace.
I can't comprehend finding running too boring, but maybe that's just me.
I never get a "runner's high" while running. It's only after that I seem to achieve some minor happiness/peace/sense of accomplishment that mirrors this. The best I get while running is forgetting that I'm running long enough to just do it without having to fight the urge to give up or walk all the time.0 -

Treadmill running can be boring to many...even seasoned runners. If I didnt run outside, I would probably not run.0 -
I generally find that the more off-pavement I get, the more interesting it is. Running parks (on the grass, not the pavement). Running trails. Running through open woods (thick woods is more "painful" than "interesting"). If you have the athletic ability (which I don't), something like parkour.0
