Can't catch a break. So today I have a birthday lunch at a Chineese restaurant.
Please suggest healthy foods I can eat ?
I wanna stay high protein, Low carb if possible. Wanna eat within 500 cals ... Max 800cals

If you want to eat 500 calories and low carb you're looking at steamed veg and chicken. If you don't mind having a bit carbs you can eyeball a cup of rice.
You could also have a small portion of whatever you want. Most of the sauces will be high in carbs.0 -

Similar advice applies as to Italian food.
* Look for dishes that are simple preparations that feature unbreaded meat and vegetables
* Look for dishes that use little or no sauce
* Look for dishes where rice is served on the side instead integral to the dish (such as fried rice)
Almost any chinese restaurant (whether "american" chinese or more authentic chinese) will have dishes like beef or chicken with vegetables (beef with broccoli, for example). If the dish mentions a sauce (white sauce, brown sauce, etc), ask if the sauce is sugar or soy based. (Nothing wrong with sugar but it adds a lot of calories). You can ask for them to lighten up on the sauce, too.
Some typically lighter options:
* Beef with broccoli
* Chicken with snow peas
* Shrimp with lobster sauce
* Wonton soup
Heavier options
* Orange Chicken (heavy sugary sauce, breaded fried chicken)
* Vegetable lo mein (mostly noodles and fried)
* Dumplings/potstickers (fattier meat filling, usually fried)
And you can always ask for half of the dish to be put in a to-go box. There is no law that says you have to eat the whole thing in one sitting.

Soup. Look for House Special Soup or something similar sounding. It's clear broth with vegetables and seafood. And it's a large enough portion for lunch.0

I would start with some Egg Drop Soup.
For the meal, most restaurants around here have a diet menu. But if not, go for either a chicken or seafood dish and request that it be steamed with the sauce on the side. And then do your best to eyeball .5-1C of rice.0 -
Yup, start with soup. I don't have exact calorie counts, but I tend to think steamed shrimp dumplings are fairly diet friendly.0

One of the meat and broccoli dishes ... and hold back on the rice ... if you can get away with just a big tablespoon of that, then you are doing good. None of the fried noodles and duck sauce. No eggrolls. Best to skip the soup, it's very high in sodium. Here's a tip to not get too much gravy ... spoon the meat and vegetables over your bit of rice and don't eat out of the container, where the gravy is.0

So all the food was ordered...we didnt get to choose.
I had the hot soup, beans and chicken. Nothing else.
I feel content and happy. Skipped on the wantons, dumplings, creamy prawns, fried rice and cake. The food looked really unhealthy...so I resisted.0 -
I love Mei Fun...rice noodles with veggies and either chicken or shrimp is my favorite. One cup is about 360 calories.0
