Spinners: Wrist question

I've started taking spin and the one area I didn't think that would bother me is my wrists. I know you aren't supposed to lean too much, keep wrists straight, etc. but my wrists still really hurt! I can't seem to find any info online (except keep your wrists straight). Do the gloves I see some people wearing help with any of this or will this just get better over time? Admittedly, my wrists/hands/fingers are very sensitive as I was a classically trained pianist in my former life. Straight wrists=avoid carpal tunnel syndrome, but I find my hands on the handlebars and my wrists collapsed down, which is what I believe is causing my pain.

Any input would help.

Thanks!

try keeping your weight back on the seat and don't put so much pressure on the handlebars - especially when standing. use that core to keep you upright, as my spinning instructor would say! :)

it will get better over time - i think i've actually built up some wrist strength over the last year since i started. best of luck!

My husband is a spinning instructor and he says that you need to relax your upper body. The work should be done by your legs
