Overeating and Still Losing Weight?

Anybody else overeat, a LOT, and still lose weight? I don't overeat all the time, but I do go over goal often, usually by 200-300 calories.
I recently realized that I have been overestimating/"cushioning" on certain foods that I eat often, like butter. I also realized after I posted my success story the other day that I completely cut out alcohol, but that was mostly before I started with MFP. I also have considered the digestive disorder I have and that perhaps I am not absorbing all my nutrients, although it is just as easy to over consume liquid calories as "solid" calories, and I'm never on liquids very long.
I have found losing weight pretty easy. I know that so much of it is cutting out the ENORMOUS meals I used to eat. I also have gotten into the habit of not eating at night, something my doctor recommended. And I starting moving as I lost weight.
I almost always eat ALL my calories. I don't try to cut back one day because I overate the day before. And I eat all my exercise calories. When I started I lost two pounds a week, though I had set my goal at one pound. Sometimes I lost more, especially in the beginning.
About fifteen years ago, I lost about fifty-five pounds over the course of one summer. The weight came off very easily--all I did at that time was adopt a modified-hypoglycemic diet, which is why I gained it back. The food did not make me happy so I gained back the weight, pretty quickly. And that's the thing. I'm just as good as gaining as I am losing. Fast. Fast. Fast.
Anybody else have this issue? (Oh, and I have labs regularly and am in much better health now that I have been in a long time.)

Jealous lol. But good for you. That is awesome!0

Wonderful for you, I'm jealous too. Was a bit worried for a moment that you might have another underlying issue, but it sounds like you are being checked regularly. Good for you.0

Yeah. I'm not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth and maybe things just seem easy....but I'm at the point where people are saying disturbing things--you're so skinny, you look tiny, you're going to blow away. I discussed this in my success story. Sometimes I just feel really vulnerable, almost like I'm "cheating" somehow. I have a friend who is trying to lose and she didn't lose ANYTHING until she cut her calories (way below MFP settings) and stopped eating back any exercise calories. I feel bad for her when my own weight has just plummeted.
I'm just hoping to find someone with the same experience so I don't feel so weird.0 -
I do over eat some, not every day but some days by around 200 calories and other by much more. I am certainly on a good downward trend with my weight. I figure I am just a lot better than I was before.1

I feel i have an easier time losing weight then most people do. So many people use food scales on here and need to make sure they correctly measure everything in order to lose weight. I do use measurements, but i have never needed to use a food scale. I'm not sure if i over estimate my calories or what, but as long as i track my food i never had a problem.
MFP gives me 1,200 calories. I range from 1,200-1,500. There are some "bad" days i ate almost at 1,800-2,000 calories. And i still lost weight. But i'm also pretty active. I always considered myself a fat fit. I play things like racquetball, biking, walking/hiking, swimming. I shoot bows. Go fishing.1 -

Do you eat your exercise calories?0 -
I wouldn't consider going over your calories by 200-300 calories everyonce in a while overeating, That's basically half a muffin, and if you are setup to lose 2lbs a week which is a 1000 calorie deficit a day you're still eating 700-800 calories less than what you would need to maintain your weight so of course you are still going to lose weight. If it is working just keep doing what you are doing!0

I didn't mean that I overeat once in awhile. I do it more often than not.0

I do.
I have my goal set for .5 pounds (I think), but I still lose more like 1.5 pounds per week. I don't track any calories burned through exercise, though, and I think this is probably the reason. Lately, I have been having wild fluctuations in my weight from week to week (no doubt due to the overeating), so this week I am really concentrating on staying close to my calorie goal (1580, if you were curious). I may end up raising my base calories again in a few weeks if I continue to lose at a quicker rate than MFP predicts.1 -

This is what I was going to point out...if you have 1,000 calorie deficit built in...eating an additional 200-300 calories would obviously not stop weight loss...you'd still be in a deficit.0 -
I guess it really comes down to my BMR. I do not know what that is. I know you can be tested in a lab to find out, but since I'm seeing my CPC next week and will be having a CBC and other levels, I'll just hang tight. I feel great. I have tons of energy. If my numbers show anything, I'll be surprised. I reckon I'm just lucky. I'll take it.0

It's totally normal... most people pick a goal that's just too low. Going 200-300 over will still give you a deficit, so you will still lose weight.
Nothing surprising about this. It's just science and math.
Although we really don't have the same notion of what 'overeating' means, apparently.0 -

Thanks! I feel better already.0
