late night eating

Hey guys! So I've been wondering if it's really that bad to eat late evening meals when trying to lose weight. I've heard eating after 7 is a no-no. I usually get off work pretty late so I can tend to eat a light meal (350cal -ish) around 8 or 9. I'm also a night owl and don't usually go to sleep until well after midnight. Can my late night eating really hinder my progress? Not sure how big of a deal it is.

Thanks for any input!

It's perfectly fine for weight loss as long as you're still hitting your calorie and nutrition goals. Some people have acid reflux or problems sleeping if they eat too close to bedtime. Those people should figure out what works best for their schedule, but most people don't need to worry about it.

Meal timing has nothing to do with weight loss. Calorie deficit for weight loss.

I'd lost 65 pounds not eating breakfast and saving lots of calories for the evening. It's all about the overall deficit, not when you eat your calories.

No. I eat in bed up until I fall asleep whether I'm in a losing, maintaining, or gaining cycle.

I don't eat during the day almost ever (generally just not hungry during that time) and eat my cals at night. Generally from 7pm-midnight is when I consume all my cals for day aside from maybe 100-200. Down 65 lbs thus far :)

if I do get hungry late at night (we eat dinner around 4 when my husband gets home) I find a 90 call yogurt, or 100 cal pack of almonds, or string cheese does the trick and I'm satisfied. I hate going to bed hungry!
