Yesterday was a rather dreary day in Minneapolis. Losing Prince is like getting all the fresh air sucked out of your lungs. He was often spotting tooling around Paisley Park on his bike, even just a few days ago. I biked over to First Ave after work to pay my respects, and got a flat tire. Dug around in my bag for my patch kit, but it started to sprinkle, so I hightailed it over to the downtown bike shop to get in changed inside instead. Shortly thereafter, the heavens opened and down the rain poured. And poured. And poured. Not quite purple rain, but fitting.
After the rain let up, the sun came out and the grass was so green. A rainbow appeared over Paisley Park. Life will continue, although now a little less purple and fabulous now without our Prince.

One of my ALL time favorite artists. I cried when I heard the song purple rain on the radio yesterday. He will forever be a music legend- right up there with Michael Jackson. RIP Prince.1

Starfish has always been a favourite of mine. The kids love it too.
I've got a signed, framed copy of SOT on vinyl hanging in my office - one of my prized possessions (I bought it signed BTW but I did "kind of meet" the little guy once, at a London after show party at the Town and Country club, he came into the crowd for a dance and talked to a few of us. Later, he played a 2 hrs gig with full band - including Maceo Parker - for the couple of hundred of us that were there).1 -

He was a talented song writer for others, too. All favs....Sinnaid O'Connor "Nothing Compares 2 U." "round & round." "Yo Mister." Alicia Keys "How come you don't call me anymore." Lots more...don't know all of em off top my head.
