Large amounts of vitamin C, garlic and chicken noodle soup. Keep hydrated and it will help "flush" it out of your system.
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
As long as your sinuses are not completely clogged, I swear by my nettie pot. You can get them at any drug store, and they usually come with packets of the sea salt to mix in the water.
I work in media and the on air people talk about shots of straight vinegar??? I've never been able to bring myself to try, ewww.0 -
I swear by zinc. Take it as soon as you feel a cold coming on- but make sure you take it with a full stomach or it can make you feel sick. And then continue to take it as long as you have a cold. It cuts the duration of your cold in half, and it will be less severe.0

AMEN! I couldn't agree with this more!0 -
So whenever I get sick, and I have Lupus so its always horrible, I'm a huge, huge fan of Zicam and for coughing I make hot tea (sweeten to taste) and then a dash of plain black pepper...The tea and pepper concoction sounds gross, but you don't taste the pepper and its stops my coughing fits. I personally like peppermint tea with the pepper.
Hope you feel better0 -
Oil of oregano I hear works well. I know alot of people who swear by it when they get sick0

The Netipot is AWESOME!!! I use it when I feel a cold coming on 2 times a day for a few days and I get better fast. All it is is a saline solution (special packets for it). Works wonders! My step dad and uncle use them daily and have they love it too! I also take zinc on a daily basis along with regular vitamins.0 -
NETIPOT all the way, it's weird the first time you use it but it is great, I use mine twice a day to keep sinus problems away.
Oil of oregano is a great oil for everything, it is rough and has quite the after taste but it will clear sinuses in a heart beat.
I use a humidifier with peppermint and lavender oils in it, the peppermint helps you breath.
as far as Zicam is concerned, it has many reported problems and is a "rebound" drug, meaning it can become a dependancy, I used it for sinuses and it only made the problem worse and my doctor and ENT and allergist all said to stay away from it.
Avoid milk too, yogurt and cheese are ok because of how they are processed but regular milk will add to your congestion.
feel better :flowerforyou:0 -
