I'm so excited to have a gloomy Friday night at home! I'm having a tough time deciding if I want to watch pet cemetery or something newer....any suggestions?

I'ts been long time since I a truly scary movie. How about an old school one "The Shining". There's something about being stuck in a big huge hotel alone during the winter out in the woods.

Depends what you personally think is scary.
For me films like The Conjuring are scary because of the supernatural theme. Things like Chainsaw Masacre and the usual storyline of teens going on holiday and being chased round by a serial killer bore me. Although I do love all the Saw movies,if youre into gore. :)

It depends on what you like, but I'll give you a few recommendations in each of my favorite horror genres. I'm a biiiig horror buff, so feel free to ask me for more in any category.

Body Horror (gruesome / gory / torture):

    -Martyrs
-The Human Centipede & The Human Centipede II (skip the 3rd installment)
-Hostel & Hostel II (skip the 3rd installment)
    -Hellraiser 3 - 5
    -House of 1000 Corpses
    -The Devil's Rejects
    -Ichi The Killer
-I Spit On Your Grave & I Spit On Your Grave 3 (skip the 2nd installment)
    -Cannibal Holocaust
    -Green Inferno
-A Serbian Film (watch with extreme caution, not for the faint of heart. Seriously.)

Supernatural Horror (ghosts / demons / vampires)

    -Evil Dead (all of them)
    -Event Horizon
    -Devil
    -The Taking of Deborah Logan
    -Insidious
-Paranormal Activity (only the 1st one)
    -Sinister & Sinister 2
    -Let Me In
-The Lost Boys (only the first, pretend the others don't exist)
-From Dusk Till Dawn (only the first, pretend the others don't exist)
    -Clown

Slasher (serial killers / home intruders / etc)

-Friday the 13th (any of them)
-A Nightmare on Elm Street (any of them except the newest one)
-Halloween (the new versions are decent but the old ones are best)
    -ATM
-The Purge (only the first one)
    -The Cabin in the Woods
    -The Visit

    Honorable Mentions (misc)

    -The Poughkeepsie Tapes
    -V/H/S & V/H/S 2
    -Antichrist
    -The ABCs of Death
    -Baskin (foreign but great)
    -The Collector
    -Tusk

Hopefully that keeps you busy for now! I've seen thousands of horror movies, so please feel free to let me know if you'd like more suggestions.

If you're looking for something recent, Vvitchh came out this year and was really good.

YouTube does have a lot of neat web series as well. I haven't invested in any yet, but people liked Meatsleep's videos. The NightMind channel has some pretty good recommendations.

I actually had to leave the theater watching the Conjuring. Scared the living cr@p out of me!

Oh I forgot to mention, if you like old horror and sci-fi movies, I built a website a while back that streams them 24/7 for free. They're old, mostly black and white, and they're all in the public domain. It's a fun site if you need something on in the background. Here's the link:

    http://classicmoviechannel.co/

I'll just say that I built that site a long time ago and I haven't updated it or maintained it in any way since, so it's possible there are bugs. Take it at face value.
