I came across some interesting articles talking about an isometric exercise called the Stomach Vacuum. It's essentially expelling all of your air forcefully and sucking in your stomach to the max, which strengthens the Transversus abdominus, helping to keep it all in and tight looking.

Here is an article:

Anyone try this and have success?

The vacuum is actually fairly difficult. I have never used it alone I used it in combination with compound lifts. The compound lifts require abdominal bracing, which is sort of the opposite of the vacuum. I think both are more effective to develop a firm core than doing just the vacuum.

An old program I used to run included stomach vacuums for time, so yes I've done it before, but only for a few weeks before the program moved to something else. It was harder than anticipated, but I didn't stick with it for long enough to say definitively whether it helped or not.

Excellent exercise used by the old school bodybuilders (the ones that were actually aesthetic/greek statue like as opposed to modern day bodybuilders). I do this exercise daily as a routine usually before showering
