If you want a lot of bang for your calorie (nutritionally speaking too) try this 300 calorie dinner :
- 3 turkey meatballs (from trader joes)/150 calorie
- 400g cauliflower rices/100 calories
- 120g zucchini cubed/20 calories
- 130g spinach shredded/30 calories
Super easy super filling. Just cook everything separately and the combine. You don't have to cook the shredded spinach, instead you could leave it raw and let the cooked cauliflower and zucchini wilt it lightly. For 300 calories you get your protein, vitamins, potassium and iron!0 -
Best thing to eat for low calorie (in my opinion) is some form of protein (chicken, fish, etc) and a lot of veggies. A lot of veggies have very low calories. Broccoli, carrots, asparagus, etc.
I have also found that my stir fry is very low calorie as well... It's just chicken and veggies in the sauce eithe some white rice.

This website has lots of great recipes: http://www.skinnytaste.com/
My lunch and dinners are typically protein, veggies & starch. Not the lowest possible calories because I want to learn how to eat properly for a LIFETME (this time).
Yes, I lose slower but I have a better chance at maintenance because the changes are not drastic ones. I (personally) don't substitute rice now, because I won't be substituting rice forever. I don't eat very low fat, because I won't be eating very low fat forever.

What calorie count do you have in mind?
I eat pretty much what I always did just watching my portion sizes. My diary is public. You do not need to add me to view it. I post my monthly list of dinners and recipes on my blog if you want to look at it for ideas. https://lounmoun.wordpress.com/
Typical breakfast- Greek yogurt, granola bars, cereal with milk, sandwich, dinner leftovers, fruit (about 200-300 calories)
Typical lunch- sandwich, salad, or dinner leftovers (about 300-500 calories)
Typical dinner- something different every night of the month. (about 500-600 calories)
Typical snacks- things like fruit, chips, popcorn, pretzels, chocolate, cookies, granola bar, carrots, celery, broccoli, trail mix, deviled eggs, pickles (about 100-300 calories)
I find food ideas on Pinterest.
