5'8/186/40+/F Would like Support from Similar

Hello All,

Would like to hear from women with similar body type and life experience, however I will not exclude anyone.

I would just like to hear from people who are trying to navigate the same "life changes" that I am encountering: getting older, grown children, tallish, and curvy-ish ,and of course, trying to lose weight. For example, I find that pants no longer fit me the way they used to around my middle and I hate wearing them on my hips. I do not heal as fast as I used to, and the weight does not come off as quickly. I go to sleep early and I wake up early. And everything is written in small print, so I find myself wearing my glasses more and more.

I'm trying to lose 30 pounds. I know it will take a long time, but some days I feel like, "what's the point, nothing is going to change." I know it's not true, but those are the times I need support.

Please drop a line or two if you are in the same boat and have some good observations and motivations to share.

Your post made me laugh. I'm similar but with not so much weight to lose. I'm 5ft 7 and weigh 149. I want to lose about 9 pounds but I've been trying for nearly a year and I keep gai ing and losing the same few pounds.

I started almost exactly where you are. I am 5'8 and I started at 185. I have lost 30 pounds since March, it is possible. You can do it, you can do whatever you are determined to accomplish.

Just wanted to wish you good luck for your journey.

Lol I did almost exactly te same post a year ago when I joined so I know exactly what you mean! I wish everyone great success on their journeys but I don't face the same struggles as a 20 year old college student so wanted to find women who understood hor flashes and the frustration of not being able to lose weight as quickly as it used to seem to be able to do and could relate to the demands of work family life and making the time to learn and understand the importance of getting healthy and fit once and for all ...and share a few laughs along the way! There are loads of us here and a lot of groups for women specifically in the 40+ years so you may find it helpful to search some keywords like "women" or "ladies" or "40" so you can browse thru some of them and hopefully find one that you get a good vibe from and can get the support and encouragement that helps us all. Off the top of my head a few if the names I know if are "ladies who lunch" "women 50+ and the "menopausal mad hatters". I know groups aren't everyone's cup of tea of course but just passing the info on un case it's of any help!

Congrats on joining and all the best in your journey - believe in yourself you CAN do it!

I started at very similar stats to yours back in February. I'm 41, 5'7" and my starting weight was 184lbs (currently 159.5). I remember my thinking at the time that I would join a gym, hire a trainer and PROVE to myself I would never be skinny again. I really was at the point of giving up if this didn't work. The one thing I did that made all the difference: I started weighing my food at the same time I joined the gym. It was an eye-opener to how much I was really eating and for the first time in years, I saw the scale numbers go down instead of up.

And yeah, small print and bifocals suck!
