Compression socks for walking

Hi I've read a few articles about the benefits of wearing compression socks for running. I'm going to be doing a long walk soon & wondered if they would be beneficial for walking too? I suffer from shin splints & have tendentious in my knee. Any experience of using compression socks would be interesting.
They are quite expensive so I'm a bit reluctant to just buy some on a whim.
Thanks.

The jury remains out, there's nothing compelling for and some material I've read essentially identifies a placebo effect whilst training.
I will say that I've found using them after my long runs leave me feeling less beaten up, but I couldn't attribute that to the compression sleeves as it's also likely that my running efficiency is improving somewhat.I'm going to be doing a long walk soon & wondered if they would be beneficial for walking too?
Most of the marketing I've seen attributes the benefits to reduced vibration, so I wouldn't see a logical reason for any claims to translate to walking.I suffer from shin splints & have tendentious in my knee.
Again that wouldn't fit with the marketing claims. Shin splints are largely about strength imbalance or appropriateness of your footwearThey are quite expensive so I'm a bit reluctant to just buy some on a whim.
This is one where if you're going to, then spending the money makes sense. Buy one pair of expensive ones, or repeat purchases of cheaper. Any reviews I've seen highlight that lower cost is frequently false economy as the compression doesn't last.
Personally, given what you're saying, I don't think they're what you need.

I've recently started using a supportive insole in my trainers which has helped a little with the shin splints. I just hoped that the support might help reduce the shock absorption, I'm walking on hard surfaces.
Thanks for your replies. I might try a mid-priced pair and see how I get on.

I sometimes wear compression sleeves on my calves during work (I work as a nurse in an icu). I would say I never have sore feet but my legs feel somewhat better wearing them than not, and there's noticeably less fluid built up as the compression helps with venous circulation. The sleeves were $11 for each and they're adidas. I like them better than socks because they last longer. Scrub stores usually sell a variety of compression socks that aren't insanely expensive.0
