Hey all you insanity peeps....I'm finding it harder to complete my exercises my average HR during a workout ranges from 170-200 !! When I reach the 200 I take a minute to allow it to come back down into the range I want it to, thing is I think I'm over doing it , I was able to finish an entire workout last week but this week I'm finding myself taking more breaks than I would like! I just completed my third week today !! What's your thought on this , am I over exerting !? I know my HR is higher due to my weight but I am careful about going over when I can but the darn hr goes up so fast ...I've tried to face a different direction than the tv so I'm not keeping up with their pace ...any one got some advice ?? My stats , female age 27 , 227 pounds .And 5'7 ..my calorie intake at the moment is lower than most but I've come a long way from 800-1400 in a matter of weeks ! So please don't tell me to eat more I am aware of the eating part ( takes time ) , I'm a work in progress , and am steadily increasing my calories week by week and still losing weight thanks for your time

My heart rate with Insanity ranges from 150 to 180. I like to stay below 180 with an average of 155 to 160.
What heart rate monitor are you using? There are many out there with false readings. I learned the hard way purchasing a cheap one at first. My Polar is much more accurate. Also do you have your data set correctly on your monitor.
If you have a good monitor and it is set correctly I recommend taking it easier. You may be over exerting and you just need to find the right pace that works for you. You do not want to over do it. I have a group here on MFP and on Facebook you can join that will have many answers to your questions like this. I have many Insanity users and some are on their 3rd round and can help you with any questions you have on Insanity or any Team Beachbody program. The links are below.

I've been wondering about this too, actually. I believe it says somewhere in the nutrition guide to keep it at at least 85% of your maximum, because it is the level with the greatest potential for fat burn. I wear my HR monitor every time so I can see how much I'm exerting myself and to correctly track how many calories I'm burning. Most of the time I'm at around 95% of my maximum which drops to around 88-85% during the 30 second breaks (with the exception of the pure cardio video-no breaks haha). Although yesterday I was really feeling it during the cardio power and resistance video and had a section where I was at 101% of my maximum. I don't honestly know what is recommended though; I figure I must be doing it about right considering I'm still taking more breaks than the people in the video-I can only imagine what their %'s are.0

I purchased a timex monitor watch with chest strap . I THINK I've set it right or at least to the best of my knowledge ...I will look that over again ! I'm pretty new to all this stuff so there is always a possibly I'm not even right ...I do notice that the watch does not calculate calories burned properly, I workout approx. 40-45 min at average 177 HR and it tells me I burned maybe 140 calories ...I have to doubt that , because one day I cleaned the house for twenty minutes and it read I burned 60 calories and I sure as heck wasn't working as hard as insanity !!0

Woot... today was my last day of Insanity, round 1
When I first started, my heart rate would jump over 190 and then I would need to back it off. By the end, my heart rate on occasion gets up to 190 but rarely much over, I'm usually in the 175 to 185 range when I'm at max exertion. I also see that my heart rate drops much more quickly during rests.
Watch your heart rate and be safe. You know when you are pushing it too hard... back it off, drink some water, and get back in it0 -
Thanks for all the advice , and it's nice to know that heart rate changes down the road !! Mine just spikes ...which is when I break , so I'm okay with that , taking breaks at least knowing it is not forever I will take precaution and continue !! Y'all are great !0

Mine is around 190 when I'm going balls to the wall. It's at that point I'll modify the exercise to get in back down in an acceptable range.0

Although I do not have an answer for you, this is great for me to know because I have been considering
beginning with Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred to condition my body to a workout since right now the only
exercise I get is from walking and swimming. I will definitely purchase myself a Polar HRM since I have
continually heard great testimonies about them.0 -

Be sure to look up a heart rate chart. Max heart rate varies by age and such, so what may be max for me may not be max for you. That's why the Insanity program never tells you what your heart rate should be... just that you should check it and be safe.0
