Since March, I've had huge problems with my asthma which mean that I can't go running as it's too intense for me. I was previously on C25K (running 3x per week for about 4 weeks) and made it to about week two before I started having asthma attacks halfway through. I'm now on a steroidal inhaler and I take a reliever but I still can't make it through the runs. My asthma nurse has recommended that I stop running and try to build up my resilience first.
My asthma is induced by exercise, cold, pollen, and perfume. I've got a better than average peak flow and I'm perfectly capable of walking long distances. But whenever I go running my chest tightens up like nobody's business.
Between Jan and Feb, I lost about 10lbs but I've pretty much plateaued since then. I need a new routine to get me back on track! I've started swimming and I enjoy yoga but I'd really appreciate any suggestions for exercises that could replace running for me. I hate going to the gym because I find it boring and I don't like the feeling of being watched. Any suggestions for exercise I can do on my own, on my own time?
I'd also be interested in hearing about other people's experiences with asthma. I haven't had any problems since childhood and I feel really thrown off course.
Thanks!

Swimming replaces running in terms of it also being cardio. Same for walking
