Weight Lifting timing with HIIT

Been doing Insanity with my wife around lunch time - wondering when the best time to fit weight lifting back in would be. Going to do SS to get back into it - options are early morning 6ish before insanity or evenings around 8 pm after insanity. Anyone have any input or experience? The weight training progress is my main interest so performance for that is what I'd like to prioritize.

Not a fan of hard cardio before a heavy lifting session -- doing heavy squats with tired legs is not my idea of fun. Can your legs fully recover in ~8 hours?

Vote for weights first, Insanity second (or alternate days -- SS is generally run as a 3x a week program, which leaves you four other days to be Insane).

I think it's great that you continue to lift when doing another program. My priority was lifting and then I tried P90X3. When I completed the program and returned to lifting, I lost so much strength and I was not happy :(

I'm doing SS while adding in HIIT style cardio and here is what my training looks like:
    Monday-SS
    Tuesday- HIIT
    Wednesday- SS
    Thursday- HIIT or rest
    Friday- SS
    Saturday- HIIT or long run
    Sunday- Rest

If I need an additional rest day, I take it. I have been doing Starting Strength for the past month. I'm still experiencing the novice effect. Right now, this split works for me. I am willing to drop the HIIT when the weights for SS start to get really heavy.
