Losing weight.

For me weight loss has been pretty easy since i changed my outlook. When i was 300 pounds my life was terrible in every way. I moved incredibly slow. Every movement I made reminded me of how disgusting i felt and how inadequate i was at navigating the world. The depression and self loathing of course just led to more eating. Like a vicious cycle. Since i recognized that it was far far harder to stay at 300 pounds than lose weight and eat well and excercise i was able to make progress slowly at first and then that progress increased exponentially as the weight came off. I mean excercising all day is easier than living 1 hour in the body of a 300 pound person...atleast that is how i see it and it works well for me. So im not trying to make anyone feel bad im hoping someone will read this and it will motivate them to see the rationale in it.

How much have you lost. I'm well over 300 lbs I have been working out 5 days a week for more than a month now, and with weight loss creeping to a halt I'm losing motivation. I keep telling myself. It's going to take time, that I need to be patient, but it's so hard. In two weeks I only lost two pounds. Now a week later I've gained those pounds back. I am being methodical about what I eat and jogging more than two miles a day. I just don't know how to stay motivated, how did you do it.0

Hi there well ill tell you how i am able to do it. First i try not to think in terms of motivation. I ask myself all the time is what im doing at this moment smart or in line with my goals. If i can honestly answer that it is then im doing the right thing. For example i could watch 1 hour of my favorite program on tv or i could do bodyweight excercises at home....what is really going to get me where i want to be?
Second i think in terms of what is actually "easier". And this is what fit people wont tell us...is that it is easier to do what they do than what we do. By this i mean that living in a fat unfit unhealthy body is far more difficult than working out and eating appropriately. The mental anguish, depression and shame that we go through is very difficult....but it doesnt have to be....the better smarter way is to know this fundamental truth....that it is easier and smarter to be healthy than it is to be unhealthy.
Im not saying it doesnt take time to get there and initially it can be difficult to excercise for obese people...however there are low impact excercises to start with that can help with this and every pound you lose gets you closer to being able to do more excercise pain free.
As far as eating i never really dieted i just ate many small meals a day with a focus on protein and not much sugar and high fat high calorie foods....one thing i didnt do was starve myself because if i did this i wouldnt have succeeded...i allowed myself to have treats as well just not very often and only half of what i would treat myself to before. I avoided fast food at all costs. I think that was fundamental to my success.
The other interesting thing that i noticed was that i stopped craving bad foods after about a month of not eating them.
So for me my calorie deficit was created mostly through excercising consistently not through a low calorie diet. I eat at about my total daily energy expenditure but excercise everyday sometimes in the morning and at night.
So for example if your total daily energy expenditure was and im just guessing here 2500 calories then you could eat around that number...preferably a bit less if you can...say 2200 calories...then if you burn lets say 500 everyday through excercise...and it doesnt have to be the same excercise all the time...then you would have a deficit of 800 calories a day and would lose roughly 1.25 pounds a week.
I hope this helps!any more questions just ask.
Good luck1 -
And ive lost 68 pounds in total0

Also i try to slightly overestimate my calories when using mfp by like 10% so that i get that added bonus deficit.for example if i ate something with 200 calories per serving id actually enter it as 1.1 servings which would be 220 calories.
Its a little mental trick that works for me.0
