Is it normal to NOT get sore? I'm 6 weeks into SL 5x5 and haven't had a day of soreness. I was quite active before starting lifting, but I keep waiting to be sore as the weight increases and still, no. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it normal to not have soreness? TIA!

soreness isn't a measure of workout effectiveness - being able to increase the weights you're working and bigger muscles are. are you doing amounts of weight that are strenuous?
btw, when i was in better shape, i rarely got sore and i used to do very intense weight training. now i'm in worse shape, i get sore after every workout0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I go up in weight as per the SL app. Well pretty much, I've slowed down some as going up 5lbs a workout is harder. Strenuous, meh, it's harder cus it's heavier but I never really fully struggle getting thru 5x5. I carry 30lbs around frequently(my toddler), so I don't know if I'm just used to carrying extra weight all the time.
Squat, row and bench are 75lbs
Overhead press 55lbs
Deadlift 95

sounds good! and if you're increasing weights over time because the old amount of weight started to get too easy, you're making gains without soreness. voila!

Mehdi says you shouldn't get sore doing the 5x5. I do the same, and when I was squating 90kg I wasn't getting sore either. The prob I had was knee surgery. I've started from the beginning, as if I've never lifted before. It's tedious! I want to be chucking the weight and seeing gains, but I have to take small steps.0

The only time I get sore is when I've had an extended period of not working out. That usually lasts a week if that.0

I still get sore on occasion. It's normally when I increase weight, or switch programs.0

If you're following the Stronglifts program to the T, you're rarely going to have much in the way of DOMS -- the weights start very low, and the progression is at a reasonable rate for newbies. Most cases of DOMS with Stronglifts are when someone takes some time off, and ignores the program advice to deload sufficiently when coming back to the program.1

Thanks for all the comments. I'm glad it sounds pretty normal then, I was just thinking i may not be pushing myself hard enough. But, from what I'm understanding, as long as I'm increasing weight, I am gaining strength and soreness isn't very common. So yay, to not being sore! Haha. Thanks again everyone!!0
