Argh why?

I know i know kitchen scale. Besides that i really need some advice.
I am 5'6" tall and for some reason have gained 3 lbs over the span of two weeks. My food diary is open for reading if anyone wants to look at it. My issue is i have been counting calories and exercising and still gaining weight. I am having a period at this time so i don't know how much that will affect it. I weigh in once a week for my own sanity. I don't know how to make the weight go the other way. Please don't criticise me i am trying. I work home depot in paints primarily so even that should be helping. I'm seriously frustrated

3 pounds can easily be normal water weight fluctuations. Be patient/weigh daily.
You need to weigh everything, or at least check that the information in the database corresponds with that of the package, before you log.4 -

Some women can fluctuate up to five pounds right before and during their period. Weighing in only once per week can easily mask a loss. If I were you I'd wait it out another week. Weighing in a little more frequently can also help make your monthly fluctuations clear. Because I weigh in daily, I know exactly what type of temporary gain to expect during ovulation and I know that during my TOM, I have a weight loss whoosh. It's not necessary to weigh in daily, but maybe twice per week may help a bit.

You already answered your own question. Food scale. However, time of the month can cause water retention. Some folks experience as much as a 7lb "gain" during this time and lose it the following week.0

According to bmi stuff a healthy weight for me would be 130lbs. I weigh 299lbs as of today's weigh in. I actually weigh more than i did when i started. I also only drink water...0

You mom's vegetable soup was 64 calories? Are you sure you are in a deficit?2

It's just called mom's vegetable soup. It was a weight watchers recipe i followed. According to the nutrition info it's only 64 calories a serving0

I agree that it's probably due to your time of the month. And weighing more frequently might help you notice fluctuations better. But I don't recommend it if you are the type to get fixated on the numbers. Some people obsess over every ounce if they weigh daily. Luckily, I'm not one of them. Heck I even weighed myself every 3 hrs once for *kitten* and giggles, just to see how much my weight does fluctuate in a given day. What can I say, I'm a little weird lol0

I took a look at your diary as well. My advice above still stands, but I will say that if you still haven't lost any weight or even gained within the next two weeks, your logging definitely needs to be improved. To be honest with your current stats, the weight should be flying off of you with the deficit that you have according to your diary.1

Three pounds over two weeks? Hell I gained three pounds between Thursday morning and Friday morning.
Your weight fluctuates. You should see all the peaks and valleys in my 90 day report.

Yep...definitely weigh all foods including packaging. (Don't hit me. lol).
I think fluid retention is going on here. I noticed a few days that you're over on sodium, and with TOM that would definitely do it.

How do you prepare your meat? I just saw the chicken and the mince and no oil or spices or herbs. All of these add up, or do you just microwave or boil? Keep at it. I keep track of weight in to separate locations, daily outside MFP and weekly on MFP. That means I can see the big steps here but get an idea of fluctuations in my other graph. Hang on in there, the MFP heroes will surely help.0

TOM is likely the culprit here, perfectly normal to gain 2 or 3 lbs with this so give it a few more days.
Great to hear you already weigh your food. Keep on going and you will get there. IF weight still up in another week then you need to tighten up logging even further.0 -

Most of the time i bake my food. As far as i can tell the recipes are accurate for calories. I'm actually attempting to follow a two week weight loss diet right now. So i would think the spices and whatnot are included in the calorie values. That's my hope anyway0

Do you enter your recipes in the recipe builder here? That's the best way to ensure accuracy. You would need to list every single ingredient though.0

I think you need to be more accurate with your logging. An average pork chop could be 3 times as much as you are counting, and veggies have calories too. Make sure and count everything, herbs sauces marinades all add up.2
