Slow Down Towards the End?

I'm 5"10 and and 175. I still have plenty of room for improvement with my beer gut and thighs but, at the same time i'm starting to feel too restricted by my diet and quite frankly i want more. So I did maintenance for the last week. I'm thinking of switching to half pound a week setting and weighing only on the first of each month until i eventually reach my goal. I also want to actually learn to eat emotionally and when actually hungry before i hit maintenance. Anyone else decide to intentionally throttle their weight loss in the homestretch?

Yes, me. I went from 200 to about 169 losing .9 lbs a week but I've felt lost lately. Lots of change going on all around me. I need to be the same for a little bit. So I'm on maintenance right now. I probably won't resume for a few weeks. Definitely going to try for .5 (maybe .45 seeing as how my previous pattern went. lol) when I get back to it. I know I can do it. At this point maintenance is probably just as important!3

Yes. I tried to kind of follow the suggestion about losing 2 pounds/week only when I had quite a lot to lose, then cut my deficit at around 20 pounds or so to goal to more like 1 pound/week, and later to 0.5 pound/week or less to coast into maintenance.
It wasn't so much wanting to eat more, or feel more normal, or anything like that - it was more that, especially at my age (60), preserving lean mass is a very important thing, because it's so slow/hard to re-gain . . . and health rather than "cuteness" is my main objective anyway.
I've only been in (or striving for) maintenance for a couple of months, but have been happy with that strategy for approaching it.6
