Hi, has anyone on here done slimming world and if so how did you find it?

Hi Sharon, i'm doing slimming world at the moment although i still pop on here most days, i've been doing slimming world 11 weeks now although i've stopped attending group as i didn't really like it. My reason for joining was after doing my fitness pal for almost 2 years with great success my weight loss had stalled, i kept on losing the same few pounds then gaining them, then losing them so my weight hadn't really budged from since last October. The SW plan is very easy to understand but at first i found it difficult to stop calorie counting, i was so used to it it had become 2nd nature, 1st and second week i lost 3lb then maintained, then gained half, then lost 1 then gained 2, my weight was back and forth like no-ones business but it was my own fault, kidding myself that if i went over the 15 allowed syns per day but just a couple it wouldn't matter etc. these past couple of weeks i've realised that although SW say you can eat as much free food as you like, i can't, i still have to be careful, i can't go over 1300 cals, nor can i have 15 syns per day so i try to stick to no more than 10, i use SW recipes for all my family meals and they are really nice, its just healthy eating but i have learned how to substitute oils and butters etc in meals and still have the same flavour or in a lot of cases better, i've now lost 15lbs in 11 weeks which is not great compared to some but i'm happy with it, and i don't feel like i need to go to group, i'm managing better on my own, i have joined lots of really good facebook groups full of advice and recipes and will continue to do what i'm doing even after i reach my final target weight.
Everyone needs to find what works for them on slimming world but once you do, it does work.0 -
Thank you Jannine. I'm thinking I might try slimming world. I'm really struggling with willpower at the moment and thinking it might do me good if I've got to go somewhere to be weighed. I really admire you, you've done so well!0

Hey, just on the other side of thing I have been doing SW since late Jan this year and lost the guts of 4 stone and love it!!!
I love the groups, the set up and the freedom to eat all day if I wish and STILL LOSE WEIGHT!!!
That being said if you get a bad leader it can make it more difficult! I joined with a bad one but then a friend asked me to go along to her group and try it and have been there since my 3rd week!
I do feel if you join you should give yourself the hour and stay at the meeting!! Tips gotten are invaluable! Even down to leaving constantly motivated and it proven those who stay at meetings loose more and continue longer! One little hour out of your week is only .5% of your week!! We ALL deserve to give ourselves AT LEAST that much!!
