1200 calories a day

Hi I'm new to my fitness pal and have a question. I'm 167 pounds now, and 5'4 inches tall. I plugged in all my data into my fitness pal and it calculated me at 1200 calories a day. I started at 175 pounds and have been losing weight but I feel that is not enough calories for me. I often feel hungry. I chose the option to lose 2 pounds per week. If I raise this too about 1500-1800 calories a day would I still consistently lose at least a pound per week?

I 'm new too. I was at 1300 . Felt hungry a lot . I went in and changed my loss to 1.5 lbs a week or 1 lbs. I now get 1690. Some days I don't eat all that . I like it better. you can try the change and see if you like it. good luck0

I think the 1200 is thier go to calories for 2 lbs a week, I am 220 lbs @ 5'4" and it has me at 1230 with exercising 30 minutes 3 times a week. If you change it to 1 lbs a week then your calories will go up

2 lbs a week is probably too aggressive. decrease to 1.5-1lb/week.1

I'm 5'6", same weight as you, and with working out 5-6 days per week I'm averaging 1 lb loss per week while eating 1900 calories.
Just for reference, 1200 calories is the lowest MFP will go. You may have to actually eat less calories than that to get the 2lb/wk (which is not recommended!), but MFP stops at 1200.
2 lbs a week at your current weight is too aggressive anyway. That's for people with a lot to lose (75 lbs +, typically ). A good rule of thumb is 1% of your body weight or less. 1 lb/wk is probably more ideal at this point, and easier to maintain!0
