The challenge of environment

I will be visiting my daughter's family in another state during a health crisis for one of the children. I will be responsible for cooking for the family. Considering what they are going through, I am going to cook what I think they will like and what will comfort them. But that has the potential to wreak havoc with my eating plan which is going so well right now. I hope to eat normal portions of the meal right along with them, but I hope to avoid binging on the leftovers, which is standard behavior for me. Of course I have plans to fill the fridge with easy things that I can eat (yogurt, edamame, frozen vegetables...).
I guess I am just posting this because I want to make the proclamation that I am committed to doing as well as I can, even though it can't match the exactness of tracking that I am used to. I am scared about the week, but if I don't binge, I should return home triumphant.

If you don't know what they like why cook something different just because they are stressed with family emergency? There is no such thing as comfort food. I would think that's trying to make them happy with food.0
