What about that loose skin thing

I don't have it yet but I got a funny feeling if I do manage to get to my goal weight, I may have some. Has anyone heard of anything you can do about it (besides exercise of course)?

Best thing to do is just be patient. Many have said that once you hit goal weight that it could take up to 2 years before your skin shrinks down as far as it's going to go naturally. This is where having before after pics can help by visualizing the tightening that has already occurred as you've lost weight.2

I also saw a post on here where a lady says she's been in maintenance 4 years and is still seeing some slight tightening. So...yes. Patience is important.1

I've always wondered about this as well. I have almost 100+ lbs to lose and I know I shouldn't worry about it and I'm not, but I've always wondered when I get to my goal weight if I will have a lot of excess skin.1

Feel good about your accomplishments. Focus on that.1

It helps to have collagen in your skin: youth, lack of smoking. Otherwise, have a great attitude and quite possibly a good plastic surgeon.1

Once you have gotten fat, the only thing you can do to help with loose skin is to lose the weight sooner rather than later. That doesn't mean you need to crash diet. It means that part of what determines loose skin is how long you were big. One year vs. ten years makes a difference. Beyond that, genetics, age, how big you were, and possibly yo-yoing (stretching it out and letting it shrink repeatedly) are what determine your skin's final point.
Things that will not make your skin shrink more:- losing slowly
- lifting weights
- wraps
- lotions

Wraps have always been temporary in my opinion. Don't let anyone sell you one. If you want a wrap go get a workout belt that helps you sweat in that area plus supports your back, but honestly it isn't necessary. Your skin is going to snap back as far as it can as slowly as it wants. Expect it to take a minimum of 2 years once you hit your goal weight. What I do is exfoliate as often as possible. I bought a loofah sponge and use it in the shower daily. Increases blood flow in your skin, and scrapes away dead and dry skin. Over a period of months and years it probably has helped me the most. That and drink as much water as you can stomach daily. Around a gallon if you can. Keep those things up and don't worry about it. Time will yield results. Hell, I've got a frikkin six pack still hidden by loose skin, drives me crazy but I just keep trying to drop my body fat percentage and wait. Eventually it'll show. If not, so be it. I feel great!2

Time and good moisturiser I was told! Don't know I it works yet, I'm not at my goal, but I moisturise daily and don't feel my skin is as bad as it could be...0
