Hey guys! So I just recently backed off and changed my calories to losing one pound a week in hopes it'll give me some wiggle room and happiness, but it says it will take me until june 7th to lose 5 pounds based on their calories. Do y'all think I could lose way more if I truly commit. My weight fluctuates a lot because I fluctuate a lot. Im 5'7 and 166 pounds. yesterday I weighed in at 166.4 after a bad eating weekend (as usual) but I ate great (a little over my budget) but today i was 165.2 and last week I ate amazing in the week and was 162. so obviously my weight wants to c me off but im not giving myself a chance. anyway my 21st bday is on may 26 and I would love more than anything to be close to 155 by then because im going to new orleans, do you think i can do it??

1 pound per week is an appropriate goal for you. I guarantee that there is not a scale that you have to step on before entering the French Quarter in NOLA. You just backed off your weight loss rate a bit because you needed wiggle room and happiness. It makes absolutely zero sense to crank it back up again, especially as you are stating that you already had a "bad eating weekend (as usual.)" Make your goals sensible and attainable rather than trying to stress yourself out for no reason.3

you say you had a "bad eating weekend (as usual)". maybe if you want to lose a little faster, you can stop eating more on weekends instead of trying to shave down more calories on other days. or you can lose more slowly and figure life's too short not to enjoy your meals.0

When you get close to being in a healthy weight range or that area where you only have like ten or fifteen pounds to lose, weight loss becomes slow becuase it's just too aggressive and Unrealistic to aim for more then half a pound to a pound a week weight loss. Becuase in doing so you'll have to consume a really low amount of calories and you'll just go crazy and end up over eating from hunger (I've been there)
I set mine to 1 pound a week back in February. I was 146 back then and right now I'm 138. I've been losing a little over half a pound a week but it's been manageable and I'm not crazy hungry becuase I get 1500 calories and I use them on lots of veggies and protein and stay pretty satisfied. I know it seems incredibly slow to only be losing like 2 pounds a month but you'll look back and be glad you did it.
My favorite quote for weightloss is, "never give up on a dream becuase the time it will take to accomplish it, the time will pass anyway"
Good luck!0 -

Your starting weight is 165 and you want to lose 10 pounds in 23 days? Sure, you could do it, but a better question is should you do it, and the answer to that is No. Patience, grasshopper. This is a marathon, not a sprint.2 -
Your other posts had a lot of great advice from people but until you realize that weight loss/keeping it off is a life change, you aren't going to have long term success. I say this as someone who's fluctuated since I was a teenager and only just learned this 2 years ago.2

You are close to maintenance, so a rapid weight loss nay not be appropriate. Slowing t o 1 lb/week will start teaching you how to eat for life.0
