Hi! What does everyone do on the weekend? On Friday or Saturday, I like to have a few glasses of wine- any recommendations?

You can get low calorie wine which if I have I add diet lemonade to it and make a spritzer or alcohol free wine but that isn't that nice in my opinion

I either bank calories during the week or make sure to choose food the day of planned drinking that will let me spend the calories on wine. A glass ranges from 100-120 cals or so... so not a giant sacrifice. Cheers!

I reserve my drinking for the weekend so yes to your question. I made a "diet" wine glass (I marked the 6oz with a design so I know what I can log without having to measure it out). Only I know the secret, but everyone just thinks its a cute glass.

I measure each glass and log the calories, works well for me.

Losing weight is so much easier for me now that I no longer drink regularly. If I have more than one drink, in addition to the empty calories from the alcohol, there's the desire to eat more, and not sleeping well that night and so being hungrier and sluggish the next day.

Not that many calories plus some health benefits in moderation. I say go for it. Much better than a dacquiri or margarita...

wine recommendations? depends on the sophistication of your palette ... BUT if you like to sit on a patio and drink cold (blech) white wine... try Moscato... it's inexpensive... and can be mixed with all kinds of fruit juices... IF you like reds... but are intimidated by all the varietals... start with Italian wines... Valpolicella... French.. Pinot Noir or Beaujolais... Argentine Merlots... and Australian Shiraz... and anything California... stay away from boxes :P and reds should be drunk with a slight chill... BUT not from the fridge... or with ice... unless it is from a box... then mix it with fruit juice and call it Sangria...

don't drink so cant give any recommendations but if it is a once a week thing it shouldn't matter too much .. just go for it :)

I'm on 1600 to 2000 calories 6 days a week and 3000 to 3500 on Sunday ... pretty much gets me ready for an intense gym work out on Monday.. if I don't have a good cheat day on sunday I feel a lot more drained come Monday and Tuesday in the gym and do less work .. if you don't work out its a different case but if you are trying to lose weight over several months going a bit over once a week wont hurt as along as its with in your weekly allowance :)

I do too - red wine or margaritas or beer, or all three (I get a three day weekend!). I log it and it fits into my calorie goals.

My (current)m favourite is Concha y Toro which runs 125 calories for 5 ounces. I think its South American.

CHAMPAGNE (or prosecco, sparking wine, cava, etc). I do not drink hard liquor because it turns me into a crazy person. On the beer/wine only train, sparkling has one of the best ABV to Calorie ratios, so you don't need a whole bottle to get a good buzz (110 cal/ 5oz/ 12.5 abv).

I don't drink alcohol at all now. I'm hoping to give it up altogether, but we'll see how it goes. I've only drank on 2 occasions this year, so think I'm doing well so far.

Other good choices are a quality vodka or gin with soda water... or a quality rum or whiskey neat or on the rocks. Red wine isn't bad at 125 cal/ 5oz glass. I always try to buy decent reds or red blends, I find that I want less if its a really complex wine. I find that if i'm drinking cheap wine I'm pouring it down my throat to get drunk enough to forget how bad it tastes (looking at you two buck chuck!)

I like to have a nice tumbler of whiskey, gin or aged tequila on the weekends. Also on the weekdays.

Trader Joes has a French blend for $6 which is very nice... It's called Revelation. Vodka and sparkling water as well... Save some calories for it, or walk an extra mile and enjoy!

What kind of recommendation are you looking for? I had a glass of wine every day while losing, and 2 most days now that I'm maintaining..

Agreed but man I hate waste, so my partner and I need an occasion or order it at a bar. We can save a bottle of red for a day or so before he won't drink it, and white for even longer but neither of us will drink day 2 champagne.

Also, champagne is only about 10 cals less per glass than red or sweet wines just fyi!

2005 Duckhorn Reserve Merlot is outstanding, although very pricey.

I like more recent vintages of Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon, and they are generally reasonably affordable.

I lost over 60 pounds drinking wine most days. I log it like anything else. I have a wine glass where the top of a picture on it is a precise 5-ounce pour.
