Hey everyone!
I was wondering what everyone recommends as footwear for heavy lifting and resistance training. I'm new to weight training and wear nike frees now but I was wondering what everyone prefers and what creates the most support.
Xoxo, Madi

Footwear for heavy lifting? Bare feet works.

You don't want "support", you want as little as possible between your foot and the floor. Running shoes with big cushy raised heel = bad.

Barefoot (or the equivalent minimalist shoe). Chuck Taylors (low or high cut...depends on preference) or the generic equivalent. I lift in Adidas Sambas (just happened to be dirt cheap when I was looking for a shoe).

I agree with the other posters - for weight training/lifting you want to make sure you aren't wearing shoes that might pitch you forward in lifts (running shoes can do this with the sole design I've found) or have too much support.

Minimalist is absolutely the best way to go, Chuck Taylors might seem silly to wear to the gym but long time lifters swear by them.

what they said above. Flat or minimalist shoes with hard soles work best. If you really want lifting shoes, look at something like the Reebok lifter 2.0/Nike Romaleos 2 but those are probably overkill for most people

Personally, lifting barefoot throws off my balance and on a platform or smooth surface causes my feet to shift around. For powerlifting, Chuck Taylor's are a good option. I use these http://m.store.crossfit.com/reebok-crossfit-lite-lo-tr-poly/M47705.html?pr=home_rr&slot=9
    I'm pretty happy with them.

i wear chuck converse for lifting, squats DL . Running shoes for bench press. and running shoes for general fitness and cardio stuff. i dont like lifting barefoot because i think its gross to have sweaty feet all over the floor.
