Sweet Potatoes

Hello everyone!

Okay, so I've just started having this love affair with sweet potatoes within the last week or so. I understand that they are good for you, but my problem is determining the size of the sweet potato for tracking. I don't have food scale (not currently in my budget) but i wanted to know if there is another way to determine what size it is for tracking. I aim to buy the smallest ones in the piles at the store so I'm sure they aren't large, but again I just want to know what to do with it tracking wise...should I just overestimate just to be on the safe side?

An average large sweet potato is 180 grams or so. which is about 6.5 oz. Does that help?

I would overestimate untill I get my hands on a scale. You might beable to find a way to measure them by length and thickness(with a measuring tape) online sonewhere.

Please buy yourself some scales - they can be got for hardly any money and it really is very important to know how much you are eating if you are serious about trying to count your calorie intake. Guessing just doesn't cut it...

I would really suggest getting a kitchen scale to accurately measure the sweet potato. I eat sweet potatoes and am often surprised at how many grams the potato can actually be. I got mine for about $10 at Walmart so it's pretty affordable.

Weight them at the store using their scales before you buy them.

Microwave: stab it (the sweet potato, not the microwave... obviously ) with a fork a few times and then stick it in for around 10 minutes.
