awful knee pain

I have joined the gym around 3 weeks ago and ever since then I've been working out around 6 days a week.
The bad news is that my knee has been hurting me like hell for around 7 days now. I tried taking an anti-inflammatory but as soon as it wears out it starts hurting again.
Question: is there any solution for my problem and do i really need to wait until it heals to continue working out?

Yes. More so if it hurts during exercise. For sure back off in that instance.0

Not being a physician or trainer, this is just my advice. Last year I tore my meniscus while in the gym. It was a combination injury from playing softball and lifting. I was stubborn, and continued to try to workout through the pain, not focusing entirely on legs, but the rest of my body. I would take some some time off, if 3-4 days of rest do not fix it, go to the doctors. Form that point, I also think 6 days a week might be a bit to much. I usually only lift heavy 3 days and do anabolic training 2 days. (If your new to the gym, and working out, check out Mind Pump: its a fitness podcast on iTunes. They have some great advice around everything fitness related. Check them out). Hope you get the pain in your knee resolved. I had to have surgery on mine which took my out for about 4 weeks.-1

What's your workout regimen? Knee pain is often just bad technique, but certainly need to figure out the cause and fix it rather than keep pushing through the pain.1

wait for it to stop hurting. and then ease back into working out slowly to give your knees and joints a chance to toughen up. depending on what you are doing 6 days a week when just starting can be too much . If it still hurts after you try again slower, then you should see a dr . Or go see one now if its really bad. but dont exercise when it hurts0

I have done some power classes and cardio (like 5 or 6 days a week). However i have attended a couple of booty classes which start by around 10 minutes of jumping and such, so i guess that's the main reason for my pain.
Currently focusing on my upper body. How can i fix this? Please help!
My day includes lots of walking:(0 -
go waaaaaay slower, and less jumping for several months , and work on lower body strength exercises also to strengthen the muscles around your knees. not everyone can jump, whatever the exercises are they are having you do modify them for less impact. Ride a bike, or the elliptical for cardio.1

(1) switch to low-impact cardio for now. most group classes have no way to correct bad form, and you're generally stuck going at the pace of the instructor
(2) learn how to squat correctly. I'm reading between the lines a lot (and @SonyaCele may also be right about the jumping, and is certainly on-point about the strength training), but most exercise classes have you quickly half- and quarter-squatting with horrible form, which is a recipe for massive knee pain
