Lifting with a minor arm disability?

Hi there.

I'm considering starting to lift in combination with an exercise programme of regular 5K runs and lots of walking. However, I have a mechanical problem with my left arm, which cannot extend fully (due to being broken in 7 places above the elbow just under 4 years ago, with a load of metalwork (now removed) etc. - without labouring the point, I'm lucky to have the extension and flexion I have).

For exercises that would normally involve full extension of the arms, I really struggle. Even simple press-ups are hard, as I am unable to get that 'lock out' that I think is needed.

I wondered if anyone else has a similar problem and whether (and how) they overcame it. The motion of the arm isn't something that I can train, as I can support my entire body weight on the arm (e.g. climbing) without it extending - it's truly, permanently restricted, alas. SO, I'm looking for any kind of support/reassurance/tips/ideas/recommendations that might apply to someone in my situation.

Ta.
