A question about water weight

I've seen a lot of posts about water weight on here.
I have my own question(s):
What exactly causes it to come off? I assume drinking the recommended amount of water each day, along with all the other healthy dietary changes one will make? Say if I start my healthier eating/drinking and weight loss on a Monday morning, how long can I expect water weight to take to come off? 24 hours? 48 hours? a week?
Thank you in advance

At the beginning it generally comes off due to lower glycogen storage, as you're now eating fewer calories. But here's the thing: you're always carrying water. It makes up the majority of our bodies. It increases and decreases day by day depending on a number of factors (sodium intake, increased exercise, hormones, and stress are the biggest contributors). So you may see a large loss for several days, but don't get discouraged if you get on the scale the next day and it's actually up.0

I actually just read an article about the glycogen thing while waiting for replies on here!0 -
what @malibu927 said.
for me personally when I eat higher carbs or more sodium then I can see water weight reflected on the scale by 2 to 3lbs and that lasts typically 4 days.0 -
