Weight question...

Curious if any of you know why it is that a person's weight is so much less just upon waking as compared to after beginning the day?
I was so excited to see another drop in poundage this morning, and wanted to see it again!
So...
I stood on the scale again.
I was dismayed to see YESTERDAY'S reading, again.
Should I still record that first weight? I stood on the scale 3 times in disbelief thinking it must be wrong. But it said I had lost a half pound!
Now... that half pound is BACK.
What should I do? Ignore or record????

The reason is - food and liquid have weight. So even if all you drink is water, you will gain weight a little during the day.
Also, seeing "yesterday's" reading should not concern you. Losing/gaining 1/2 lb a day is usually water weight. This is why most people go for the 1 weigh a week plan. Think of losing as a trend. There may be highs and lows, but the trend is downward. If you want to weigh everyday that's fine, just don't take it too seriously.

Unfortunately, our weight fluctuates all the time. I am also one to weigh every day, but am trying to break that habit. I would ignore it, and if you can, ignore the scale. Weigh once a week or every two weeks at the same time of day, wearing about the same thing (or nothing at all works too). Also, take a cloth tape measure and measure various areas of your body and keep track of that too. Sometimes the scale is NOT our friend, but the tape measure is. If you can't ignore the scale and want to weigh everyday, go ahead, but I would only record once a week. Good luck!0

Remember - 16 oz of water weighs just over a pound. So even if you just took your vitamin with a glass of water or just drank a glass of water you will gain 1 lb. Thats why it's best to just weigh first off in the am and count that weight. And once a week is best - you will get a better picture than everyday because of altered sodium intake on a daily basis, etc.0

I can weigh as much as 5 lbs more at night than I do in the morning. I ignore all other weighs except for my weekly weigh-in that I log. And that is done on the same day every week, first thing in the morning - before food and water, but after bathroom time.0

I believe they are too! I've been working out 3 times a week for 60 mins each...for about 5 weeks and I've lost 3 pounds but have lost about 3" in the waist and hips...I hate scales!0
