I am a larger woman, 5'4" and SW of 234.
Started 3 weeks ago with MFP and cardio. Lost 8 lbs in 21 days. Was disappointed until i did the math.
8 pounds x 3500 calories a pound = 28000 calories deficit
28000 calories deficit for 3 weeks= 9333 calories a week deficit
9333 calories a week deficit= 1333 calories a day deficit

8 pounds didnt seem like much since I have 46 left to go, but looking at the big numbers are motivating!

Congratulations! Just remember that a good chunk of the initial weight loss is water weight, which will both skew your deficit statistics and slow your rate down now.

I actually hit that the second week. Had a gain back of 2 pounds. My numbers are so much smaller than my husband because well he is male. So had to look for motovation and got it from seeing how much I have been able to trim my calories. Number on the scale doesnr motivate me.

Also motivated with dropping a pants size in those 8 lbs.

Thank you! It is really a mental game we can all win, once we figure out what works for us.
