Typically that is considered a recomposition. It is when you eat at maintenance or a bit below and lift progressive weights. Typically that is what people mean when they want to "tone." A lot of people experience the tightening of their physique while maintaining around the same weight, but it is a very slow process.

    Yes. Research body recomposition.

In theory it can. That really depends on your current body composition and what you do at the gym.

yes if you do whats called a body recomposition. you eat at maintenance level and lift weights(a progressive lifting program can help) like NROLFW,5x5,strongcurves, ice cream fitness, etc. its slow going but yes, your clothing size can get smaller if you have a decent amount of fat to lose.

Of course, exercise especially lifting weights means our shape can keep changing yet our weight remain the same.

I am in smaller size than I was in my 20s (back then I was always a size 12 even at 120lbs) when I was 10lbs lighter than now so being fit/active and consistent strength training/lifting has made a huge difference to my body shape. Now I fit size 8-10 (UK).
