I had a Fit Bit One a couple of years ago and it was washed and ruined. I am thinking I would do better with the one that is on my wrist. Fit Bit lovers/haters please weigh in. I had a jawbone and sent it back.

I hate having to wear something on my wrist all day long. I prefer the One.1

I am a die hard garmin fan. I started with the fitbit and didn't like it. After moving to garmin I never looked back. ultimately it's about what works for you.
This guy DC rainmaker is awesome. Check out the product reviews and comparison tools.

I purchased the new Blaze a few weeks ago and have not been disappointed. It is a watch of course and works well as such. It is nice always having the heart rate monitor active so you know how many calories you are burning at all points through out the day. Perfect? Probably about as close as you are going to get for monitoring. For a fitness watch/tracker it is spot on. For a technology watch it falls short. I had the Samsung Gear Fit prior to the blaze and the Gear Fit synced seamlessly with my phone in every way. The Blaze mostly syncs but you have very limited functionality compared to a more technology based watch. It all depends on what is important to you. At this point I am willing to trade off the Tech for the Fitness, hoping the Tech in the Blaze will catch up quickly.1
