What do you do with your outgrown clothing?

I have lost a little...but have noticed some items seem too roomy and make me look sloppy...even pajamas and sweats look a bit baggy.

Practical me says I can keep them...after all...I haven't lost much and they are not falling off...and they are just for sleep or exercise. Practical me also gets panicky and thinks, what if you need them again, why rebuy them?

But forward moving me says, shop for a size down at a discount place, donate the others and stay focused.

But then again maybe wait until I really need to switch out and do it all at once when things aren't still in flux.

What works for you? Keeps you motivated? Is it bad to hang on to stuff as it may become a safety net...or is it motivation, sort of look at what I started at?

I donated mine at goal weight. That way, when a couple pounds started to creep back, it forced me to lose the weight again or I'd have nothing to wear. Having larger sizes available would make me more likely to get complacent; YMMV.

Donate them. Someone else can use them more than I can.

I gave mine to good will but kept two sizes one size is a 8/10 and the other is my current size 12/14 everything else larger then a 14 donted to good will

Donate it to Goodwill or some other non-profit. There are also churches that accept gently used clothing. Consignments are a waste because a lot of the time they don't give you much of anything for your items and then they don't have anything that you'd want to trade for and are typically marked up ridiculously. I'd rather someone needy have the opportunity to get good clothes for very cheap or free than some store make a buck off of me.

Are the 8/10 a goal to work towards to keep you motivated? Maybe that is what I need...a "must have motivational item" our for me to see daily to keep working towards. I may have something, but it is probably tucked away hidden in the back of a closet knowing it doesn't fit so keep it tucked away until it might.

I did the same thing. Its cheaper for me to lose 10 pounds than to buy bigger pants. ;)

I donate most of it, but keep certain pieces I really love. I finally broke down and took in my jeans not too long ago, lost 10 pounds since then and they don't fit again! That's okay by me, I could use more practice taking things in. I'm at the point where things fall off me, had to ask my laughing husband to pull my shorts up from around my ankles while I was doing dishes. They dropped so fast you'd think there was a prankster ghost.

A friend of mine suggested keeping some of the clothes in case I became pregnant. I kept them and wore them only because I had put all the weight back on - crushing. They were handy to have, but I'm not keeping any backups this time, won't need them.

I got rid of everything that was too big (first time in all the years I've been yoyoing that I've done that). I'm just not going there again and don't need a bunch of clothes taking up space. Sadly (or happily) my wardrobe is pretty limited right now because I'm not sure how much more I want to try and lose.

A sell a little bit of it, most of it I donate to the church.

Great positive outlooks and suggestions. I really should just let them go and not use them as a crutch or "just in case" because that sets me up for slip ups and bad habits and having the clothes as a safety net is probably causing more harm than good.

I get rid of all the clothes that no longer fit me well. Psychologically, I am saying goodbye to that me. I plan to never gain the weight back so why keep it all? The way After losing 25 lbs I deserve feel good about myself and nothing makes me feel better than wearing clothing that fits well. I'm not at goal yet though so I have been limiting what I buy lately. I only buy what's absolutely necessary and will look and feel okay with a few pounds wiggle room.

I put my too-big workout clothes in the gym's locker room with a note that they were free to whomever needed them. They were snatched up right away.

You might want to keep one pair of jeans or pants just to compare to what you wear now and remind you of how far you've come.

    That's a great idea!

We have a local bidding site that I sell some of my clothes on and the rest get donated.

If it's soft material, it becomes a rag to polish my motorcycle. Otherwise it goes to Goodwill.
