Hey guys
I want to start lifting, but don't know where to start.
I go to a gym and a pt is just waaaay to expensive.
I use mainly cardio machines and Dumbbells.
Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to start lifting?
I really don't know what to do

If you can get a hold of one of the lifting books for women by Lou Schuler and Alwayn Cosgrove: either New Rules of lifting for women or their new one STRONG. Whether you decide to follow the actual lifting program or not you will gain invaluable information about lifting and specifically for women. It's an awesome basis theory wise. Afterwards you can always pick and choose the exercises to meet your goals and circumstances.
I don't go to a gym because it's inconvenient but I have a decent home gym. Most of it is dumbells and resistance bands though I recently did splurge for my bday and got myself a squat box.
Lifting has a lot of benefits you will get stronger physically and mentally, it's the only way to build up bone strength which will come in handy later in life.
If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.0 -

Strong lifts is a great program that isn't complicated.
I have heard lots say NROLFW gets complicated...
The group is great as well.
I lift at home and started with SL...just watched his videos and asked questions1 -
Don't underestimate body weight training. It requires little or no equipment and can be done anywhere. No gym membership required!0

Check out fitnessblender.com. Its free and they utilize dumbbells and bodyweight exercise. If you do get access to more weights I agree with Strong Lifts, but also check out Jamie Eason Livefit trainer on bodybuilding.com.0

bodybuilding.com has some great workouts. You can even take their short quiz and they will point you in the right direction. I started out there 2 years ago and have progressed through many of their workouts.0
