Do you just use the calories mfp give you to meet your goal or do you use macro calculators which tell you to eat much more? Do you think macros matter over calories?

For me, the calorie calculators come out about the same once I account for equivalent goals and exercise calories. The important thing is to pick a number, stick with it for a few weeks, and adjust based on your own real world results. They're all just estimates based on averages and no one fits into the calculator 100% perfectly.

Do macros matter? Well, that depends a lot on what we're talking about. For weight loss, I think calories are king. Macros can help with things like hunger, satisfaction, gym performance, body composition, mood, general health, etc. But again, it's important to find the macro split that's right for you and your needs and goals.

I have, and do, use both methods depending on which I find most suitable at the time.

MFP's NEAT I use when my exercise routine is erratic. Ie: summer when I rely more on gardening and do minimum exercise I will do MFP slightly active and log (and eat back) my exercise.

TDEE, IIFYM I use in the winter when I am sedentary but have a very structured exercise routine.

there is little in the calorie difference, I just find it can be simpler, for me,using this approach.

    My macros I always have at 40c, 30p, 30f.

I should add I no longer regularly log as I have been maintaining for years.

    Cheers, h.

IIFYM and TDEE calculators will give you more calories because they factor in exercise. MFP uses the NEAT method, which does not include exercise.

    This^

Macros matter to me for satiety, which helps me stay in a calorie deficit.
