What's best for adding mass: high-fat, high-calorie foods, or leaner options?

I pretty much just eat whatever I want with some consideration.
I set my macro goals and then eat to that guideline.
For example, I eat around 1.2-1.4 grams of protein per pound (general advice is 0.8 to 1.0 grams/lb of lean mass or goal weight), my fat is roughly .5grams/lb, and then I fill the rest of my calorie goal with whatever the heck I want... quite often french fries, or ice cream.
Generally, advice for a bulk resulting in minimal fat gains is around 500 calories more than your TDEE.0
