Exercise Induced Asthma? Reflux? Allergies?

Anyone dealing with this? For many years, I've had issues with gagging and coughing when exercising. I chalked it up to my stubborn acid reflux. It was always worst in the winter, when I would get crazy runny nose and post nasal drip. Now, it's spring, but it's worse than ever. Two miles into my bike commute, I'm choking and coughing, blowing my nose, struggling to inhale a full breath. The one incredibly mild hill just kills me and the next two miles I'm miserable. I do my morning ride on an empty stomach, the ride home is at 5 when I've had lunch at 1:00, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've been reading about exercise induced asthma, but the symptoms are so tied up with congestion and reflux it's hard to know.

u could try a bronchodilator such as bronkaid prior to your workout. I do warn you though that if u have caffeine before said workout, bronkaid will act in synergy with caffeine which has been proven to increase fat loss. Now while that is typically ideal for most people, in your case, it increases heart rate, which could make an asthmatic event worse than it already is, should the bronchodilator not have any effect on your symptoms. Without caffeine though it could potentially benefit you.

It does sound as if you have terrible allergies.

I have sports asthma. I don't have a problem during the day but once I start exercising it's over. I can't breathe at all. I am on Singulair and an inhaler (if needed). I haven't ridden a bike in years, but when I run, walk nature trails, or even weight lifting I'll get the runny nose, coughing, short of breath. I'd recommend you seeing you PCP if you have one. Maybe there's something they can give you to help you out.
