Crunch or Planet Fitness?

I've been trying to find a gym to start going to because I'm terrified of people I know see me working out in the school's gym and there's a Planet Fitness half a mile away from my school and a Crunch about 5 away. Which one is better?

Go tour them both. Whichever one best fits your needs and you are more inclined to go to is how ya pick. I joined Planet Fitness mostly due to pricing, and it had a "leave me alone" vibe that I absolutely adore.

Do you really want a debate thread about this? I understand why people object to certain things about PF, but really it comes down to what you want out of the gym, the cost, and which one you would actually go to. For me, that meant finding one as close to my office as possible (I know myself), with a good enough free weight section with barbells and a squat rack, some good classes I would enjoy going to, and pool access. Also the atmosphere I wanted (which I've generally found in all big gyms in the area of my office)--basically, working people seriously getting in their workouts and not messing around, a generally friendly feel from the staff and others. For you the requirements/what encourages you to go might be different.

Did I say this was a debate thread though??? I was just asking for opinions????

    That's something to consider. Okay.

First off, go with a gym that has the things you need. Second, consider that your needs may change before your contract runs out so go with a gym that has more than what you need. Third, if your school gym is free or cheaper and also has what you need, take it as an opportunity to conquer your fears and work out there. Who knows? You might run into someone you know at the school gym and they become your gym buddy or your future partner in life.

Facing the fears and using the school gym is actually a good thing to think about.

I'm really just trying to find a place that has good cardio equipment which my school lacks with.

Also, facing my fears is not an option at a school where people will point out any unattractive person they see and mock them openly on yik yak.

PF will probably do it, then.
