I worked out last night (60 minute walk) plus weights (chest and shoulders) and I just woke up a few minutes ago with an excruciating pain in my right knee. I can barely walk. It hurts like hell to make it straight and the kneecap is really sensitive to touch. What's going on here ??

Sounds like an IT band issue:

Just had this article pop up on my Facebook feed about knees. Pretty good reading:

    Best of luck.

did you just start working out recently or yesterday ? give your knees a chance to toughen up. put some ice on it

If it's that bad, sounds like you need to see a doctor or a physio.

It could be an IT issue, as mentioned earlier, plus a glute and hip flexor issue as well. If these are all weak, then your knee pays the price for it. It is otherwise known as "runner's knee". Be sure to stretch often, and work on all the muscle groups that surround the knee.

bummer sorry to hear that. but now that its sprained, be aware that it will never heal, and will be looser than before and prone to sprain again easily. Maybe its better to tear it and have it replaced , who knows.

Oh, thats not good. Take it easy (follow doc's orders) and when possible get yourself to a physiotherapist for some help with exercises to strengthen the muscles around it to try to avoid further injury.
