Maybe you need something to tire you out on non workout days? Are you taking in a lot of caffeine? Sometimes I feel restless on rest days too, I usually stay away from caffeine and take a long relaxing walk.0

I did have caffiene today, but most days I don't really, and I have trouble sleeping those nights as well (just closer to the 2-3 am mark)0

I've been having the same problem for a while! I weight train on Mon Wed and Fri and do cardio from Mon-Sat. It's hard for me to sleep on Sundays and I suspect my pre-workout shake concoction my be a culprit in this. I spike it with a cup of lite mocha flavored iced coffeee (about 100 cal) and I only use it for pre-workouts, I never drink it on Sunday. Maybe there is some carry over IDK0

I do my routine on mon wed and fri too sometimes I add in an extra cardio day or two, but mostly stick to my lifting routine... Just sucks having to exercise just to get to bed at a decent hour... not sure if its normal, shouldn't I just be able to sleep at a normal hour in general?0 -
Got this a swell. I switched to working out every day. I do strength on 3 days and cardio on another 4 when I don't do strength training. That helped a lot. My suggestion, go work out every day. ^^0

I have always slept ok but i do get really fidgety an overly bouncy if i don't train for a couple of days.
Without getting all new age hippy have you tried doing a little exercise in the evening. 20 minutes of yoga or a short walk just to relax yourself.
It might help?0 -
Try to determine if it's a diet issue first. Track what you are eating and drinking on a non workout day vs. a workout day to see if there are noticeable differences.
If that doesn't show anything revealing its possible you are just more tired on workout days so add a little activity to your evening like and after dinner walk.
Might also be a relaxation issue. have had sleep problems for years so I started doing yoga in the evening focusing on gentle stretching and breathing. Totally works. Even if I happen to fall asleep on the floor doing it, its usually a gentle transfer to bed. Just be ready to sleep once you start, doing chores and night time stuff right after will ruin the effect.0 -
What types of things are you doing on non work out days? Are you staying sedentary the whole day, or are you active and running errands and such? I suspect your metabolism is kicking up and causing you to feel more awake. So make sure that even though you are not exercising that you are not just sitting around either.
Also, evaluate your evening habits. I've suffered from insomnia for many years and during the times when it affects me I have to change my evening rituals to be more relaxed and less stimulating in order to get to sleep at a decent hour or at all.
Things to watch out for, are exciting TV shows, this can be anything from an action movie to something Extremely Hilarious. Anything that can get your heart pumping. Video games are another no no if you having trouble sleeping. Also, be sure to pay attention to the things you do in your bedroom. One thing that I learned along the way about "sleep Hygiene" is that the bedroom should ONLY be used for sleep and of course intimacy. Other than that, no TV, no reading, no arguing, no eating in the bedroom. Also, make sure that if you have cell phones in your room at night time, turn them face down so that there is no light emitting from them. Light effects the brains ability to produce melatonin which is the hormone that tells your brain to sleep and this is most active in the dark. So, you may even want to try dimming the lights in the living room about an hour before bed.
I know it may seem nuts, but it really does make a difference.0 -

I just started having issues with this when I began my new “lifestyle”. I now wake up at 5am every morning and exercise. Then, I use some relaxing lavender scents and ear plugs at night. I make sure I don’t drink a lot of water after 8pm also. I pretty much have to exhaust my body before it wants to go to sleep! 8 hours is not happening for me. But, I have been consistently getting around 5 or 6 a night which is fine.
Try yoga, getting up earlier and exercising, relaxing scents. Don’t work out three or more hours before bed. Try not to look at a computer screen (including phone) an hour before bed. Read.
Eat carbs before bed! The more protein I eat before bed, the harder it is to fall asleep. But, carbs do wonders
Good luck!0 -
