Argh, weighed myself this morning and I have put 1 LB on, despite not going over my calories in months!

I know it's probably water (from some relatively high sodium food) or from weight lifting, but it's so disheartening to see after a weekend of hard work!

Think from now on I'll just stay away from the scales, and do monthly weigh ins. At least that way I'm more guaranteed to see a loss!

    do you measure/take pictures?

if you are doing mainly strength training you will see less scale loss but more changes to your bodyshape.

You know, pictures are something I've not done, I'll have to get that sorted.

I've been doing my chest and arms with the weights, but I have only been doing them for a month. This is the first time my weight has stayed the same or gone up since I started dieting. When everybody else puts unexpected weight on after being good, I advise that it's probably water, or from toning muscle, but when it happens to me, I still have doubts!

Happens to me every month, and usually it's 2-3 lbs. Get used to it, lol.

you should do full body strength... who want a man with nice shoulders but scrawny chicken legs and a flabby bum?!

Lol. Well, my legs are already well defined, I've always had really muscly calves (probably from carrying a lot of weight) plus I have arthritis in my spine, so I tend to shy away from lower body exercises!

I used to weight train when I was in my early 20's, but now I'm lightly weight training whilst eating at a deficit in order to maintain muscle mass and lose more body fat.
